Goin’ fishing? What are you using for bait? Well, it depends on what you are fishing for, right? If you are fishing for catfish in Texas, you might be using stink bait or chicken interals. If you are fishing in Oklahoma, you might be using your naked hand. They call it noodling. But if you are fishing for unsaved people you might use the bait that we use.
My pastor is 6’ 5”, weighs 350 pounds, give or take a few pounds, and rides a Harley. Others in my church are bike riders also. We started a motorcycle ministry because we know that God loves motorcycle riders and motorcycle riders need Jesus. Our members range from a 60-year-old grandmother to teenagers. Not every member owns a bike, but all want to share the love of Jesus with others.
Crimson Cross Riders, MM., was formed early 2007, with a small group of around a dozen and has already grown to over 40 members. In April 2007, we sponsored a rally to raise money for the “Meals on Wheels” organization. With the help of God, we were able to raise almost $9,000.00. “Meals on Wheels” provides daily meals for those who are shut in or the elderly with fixed income. But more than that, we were able to meet and share the Gospel with unsaved motorcycle riders.
Early this year we were honored to represent Christian motorcycle riders at a funeral for a fallen hero killed in Iraq. The young man grew up in our area and was buried on a cold winter day. It was a proud day for us as Americans. As cold as it was, it was an honor to stand along with the Patriot Guard and many other motorcycle clubs in a long line of riders holding huge American flags in a solemn salute to the young man’s ultimate sacrifice.
We are fishing with leather, doo rags, and Harleys. If you want to catch fish you better be fishing with the right bait.
We fish for other unsaved people, but in each case we use the bait that will attract the “fish” that we want to catch. If you want to catch “hip-hop” fish you can’t use “big band” bait. Think about the “fish” that you want to catch and be sure that you use the right bait.
